Megan: I got my winter wonderland run in just in time cause last night the temp. went up into the mid 50's and today the snow is quickly on a melt down. Running in the park today would be a soggy affair. I am relieved that you made it to your destination for the holidays. That was some messy weather Friday night and Saturday morning. Run that 7 mile loop as much as you can. Sounds like good preparation for the first "Mud In Your Eye Cross Country" 5k I want to run at Mt Trashmore in Va Beach on 16 Jan. Let me know if you are interested. This race will cover the steepest hills that Va. Beach has to offer. Other than a few dunes at Seashore St. Park, they are the only hills at the beach. This will be the first of a 3 cc race series. Anyone else interested, let me know. There is a team (5-7runners) competition also.

Joe: That run sounds great! Sorry I had to miss a nice xmas day run in pocahontas. I've been running in my hometown and have a fantastic 7 mile loop that involves all the toughest hills in town. (very sore!) Hopefully by the time I get back I should be in great shape! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and enjoying their winter wonderland while it lasts!

Todor: I ran 7 miles in Pocahontas Park this afternoon. It was okay until the last mile when the rain picked up. I ran the Beaver Lake Trail and a short loop in the back of the park. It was absolutely beautiful out there. In a few days the snow will be gone. And while that is a good thing, it was so nice to run in the winter wonderland. Enjoy your run on the Buttermilk Trail and be carefull cause that trail has some challenging spots.

Doug: My buddy and his wife are not early risers, so we'll probably start around 8:15 on the Forest Hill side (I think it's around 42nd street entrance) and we'll be doing only about 6 miles. So I guess at least we'll cross paths somewhere along the way.

Todor - I'm going to be running Northbank/Buttermilk/Forest Hill park trails (20 miles total) on Sunday starting from the Belle Isle/Tredegar parking lot at 7 a.m. Do you and your buddy want to hook up? There may be a couple of more guys joining as well.

Joe - I will not be able to run Christmas day, but planning a run with a coworker on the Buttemilk/Norhtbank on Sunday morning - if anyone intterested - I'll give you the details.

If anyone has the time in the next two days to get out to Pocahantos, now is the time to do it. It is absolutely gorgeous, the snow has melted down some and you spend most of the time running on top of the snow. It's not very deep at all. I wore my coils around my shoes, but I believe that I could have gone without them. The lot at Qualla of course is still pretty rough but it's snow and no ice so fairly negotiable. Enjoy!
